Mike - I hope you ended up having a great holiday. Next time I'll try to get a post like this up well before the holidays kick into full gear!

Completely insightful, AND inspirational AND a tad too late. My problem is the kids just fight and bicker with each other from sun up to sun down every, EVERY day. Two days ago (five before Christmas) my 10 year old daughter brought my 8 year old son into her room. I was brushing my teeth, watching them as she held his hand and told him about a surprise and I thought "Wow! What a surprise!... two minutes later he comes out crying and I have to say (around a toothbrush) "What just happened?" She showed him his Christmas gift and told him he was no longer entitled to it because she was angry at him for being mean. What a shocker! He was mean? I asked her how many times I've been angry at her and how would she feel if that's how we treated her? "Sad." But it didn't change anything. Today (three days before Christmas), I came home from work, my wife crying and wanting to be sick because of the way she felt because of how they acted in the grocery store. Not shopping. Just picking up dinner. Cranky Daddy took over! Santa's been watching and even if he see's fit to visit these two yahoos, I'm telling him he's not welcome and that maybe they should try to get along.

It's something I said and I'm not proud of it, but if I back down they'll learn they can get anything. The good side of this is that my wife was worried about the gifts from us (on a tightened budget) versus the gifts Santa would bring. No longer a problem...

And that was a great show. It's the only television I look forward to every week.

Thanks Keith. That was a GREAT post. One every father should see...
